Emergency Bridge on Major Highway Rescue
Location: Highway 88 North of Slave Lake, Alberta
Scope: Highway washed out in two places north of Slave Lake closing the highway for multiples days stranding campers and oilfield workers. Due to heavy rains in the area
Mission: Due to heavy rains in Northern Alberta, a road failure on Highway 88 stopped all traffic from heading north to Red Earth or south to Slave Lake. This washout required travellers and workers a detour around 4 hours to get to thier home or work locations. We were tasked with reopening the highway.
Results: NMB reacted quickly and efficiently by sending a 60’ low profile and 90’ oilfield portable to span the washouts and allow traffic to flow and will act as temporary crossing while the highway is being repaired.
