Field Supervisor

Position Description:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Field Supervisor works closely with Operators, Drivers and Clients to ensure that all work is completed safely and efficiently while adhering to company as well as client policies and procedures at all times. The Field Supervisor will communicate job requirements to the crew, direct and assess the work of crew members, deal with customers in a professional manner and assess potential hazards. He or she is responsible for working within budgetary limits and the timely communication of scope changes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all Operators are contacted and given proper directions and times to be on location
  • Plan routes by providing signage when needed to give trucks and personnel easy access to site
  • Conduct morning toolbox talks, Hazard Assessment meetings and personnel sign off
  • Ensure the proper tools and equipment are available to do the job safely and efficiently
  • Obtain completed daily bill of Ladings (Job #, PO#, # of Mats hauled, hours, FT# and rates)
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork and reports are completed accurately
  • Deal with customers and Operator concerns in a professional manner at all times
  • Ensure operators are keeping mat tallies daily and that they are correct
  • Communicate with Operations Manager daily on job progress and duration
  • Ensure all equipment is properly maintained by Operators
  • Approve daily Operation time tickets and ensure that required information is recorded
  • Submit completed field tickets to Consultant for approval daily
  • Ensure that end of job arrangements have been made to haul equipment out
  • Ensure all paperwork, time and job packages are completed and correct, and sent to the office by job end



  • A minimum of 1 to 2 years Field work experience in Construction and/or Oilfield
  • Strong experience operating both Excavator and Loader with Thumb/Grapple
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment an asset
  • Bridge and Matting product knowledge a definite asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated communication skills, including oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others
  • Effective problem solving and conflict management skills

Education Requirements:

  • Courses or seminars on supervision, safety, teaching, facilitation or management an asset
    Safety tickets an asset

Other Requirements

  • Strong computer skills, people, leadership and team building capabilities
  • Able to maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Professional and positive attitude
  • Maintain professional relationships with employees/clients at all times
